Mazda 6 Head Unit

In the UK & Ireland Mazda never offered an original sat nav for the 6 but if you wanted it they fitted a pioneer unit. It was the avic F930bt, there's an original Mazda surround and leads so that the steering wheel controls work with it.

I got one fitted to my 6, it doesn't look as OEM as the one linked but I reckon you could get one for very similar money. From the forums back when I was reading the ones like you've linked are very hit and miss. This is what the pioneer looked like in the car.

Thanks for the reply (I thought it was so bad nobody had the heart to tell me)

I couldn't live with those gaps anyway ,I like the original fit and look of Mazdas head unit but its very basic radio , cd ,aux and steering wheel control.
I have searched the web but have not found yet what company actually makes the head unit I linked to. The one below is identical and lists all its features supposedly and it looks great to me , but I don't know much at all about car radios
    .

Has the f930bt got an original Mazda surround that would eliminate the gaps on what you posted then its what Ill go for .
    I appreciate your help,
    Thanks

That is the original Mazda surround for it, bought from the dealers. The first pic is when it was first installed and it did adjust the brackets to align it better after that but the second pic is about as right as you can get it.

The problem with those OEM look ones for the 6 seems to be they are like a cheap smartphone - slow, easy to make crash and will actively seek to make you hate it. The OEM look is a major positive admittedly.

I know that your probably about the best qualified person on here when it comes to car audio MC so I will leave any decision until after Christmas.

500 hundred odd euro is a bit much to spend on something that I might end up hating after a few weeks.

You have or had a 6 too, I cant find much information on them at all even the Haynes manual is for the American market . The Mazda forums are also American .
I have given the car a basic oil, filter, air filter and spark plug change but further down the line when other parts start to ware pads disks dampers or springs for example. Id like somewhere to find tips first . Do you know of any good forums or workshop manuals ?

The only one that seemed decent at the time was mazda6forums.co.uk but that was quiet enough too.
