TV3 HD poor picture quality on Sky.

Watching TV3 HD this evening on Sky, picture quality appears very soft compared to RTE 1 or RTE2 HD.

Looking at the 5.30 TV3 News this evening, even the studio shots look very low res. and fuzzy....not really HD?

The current Sky test channel 2816 carrying RTE 1 HD is miles clearer.

Temporary fault or just lower quality than other channels?

Is the TV3 news set HD? Don't think so.

Not sure about the news set but the channel says TV3 HD (103) but to be honest, even watching it now, it looks very much SD and bad SD at that.

Yes it is, they have a Sony HD in Ballymount and news, Vincent Browne and breakfast TV use it.

I have been watching TV3 this week via Sky and it looks fine to me.

Picture still looks softer than both the RTE HD channels to me.
Other Sky HD channels are consistenely excellent too.

When I compare it to TV 3 SD on 273 I think it looks and sounds a lot better.

I noticed this too, not as sharp as other HD channels.

TV3 are not known for the high broadcast standards. If people can see it and hear it (just about) - it’s good enough for them.
