Any of you lads or lasses know if it's still just the red lights on the dash the testers bother about? Have a Caddy up for the NCT in the morning and that stupid no bulb warning light comes on after about ten minutes even though no bulbs are blown, must be a sensor or something and I haven't really the time to go hoking today.

    Cheers.

It could be a bulb on the way out, dropping resistance sometimes. It happened me and I couldn't figure out what was happening.
Westport nct centre passed anyway, and I had the orange emissions light on too.

Aye have my suspicions about the number plate lights alright, whoever had it before me put them Chinese LED ones in, all lit up though.

Yeah, that happens. I start getting "Brake lamp failed" warnings while the bulb in question is still intermittent, at the very least.

If they can see all exterior bulbs working they should still pass it.
    Put it through and see.

Are any lights on the dash a reason for failing the NCT? I think you can't sit your driving test in a car with warning lights on but I thought the NCT didn't mind so long as the tests themselves passed.

This is the most recent testing manual
    http://www.rsa.ie/Documents/NCT/NCT%20Manual%20Revise%20JULY%202014.pdf

It will mention what needs to be in order for car to pass, incl dash lights.

Because they're such a small load compared to a regular bulb, it throws up a blown bulb warning usually.

If the wrong type of led are used, yes they will cause a bulb warning.
You can get ones that keep the system happy though.
