When I had adsl it was the serial number@vodafone.ie
    On vdsl it's sn@vfiefttc.ie

Both of them had the password as broadband.

Ok, so in that case if I use a third party modem I need to use either of the above and password broadband and not the vodafone@vodafon.ie username?

This is VDSL though. Does that make any difference?

Wth VDSL you can just use IPoE and skip PPPoE. It'll auth you from the pool based on your port.

So you mean just change the Internet Connection Type from PPPoE to IPoE and leave username and password blank?

Edit: No option for IPoE. :(

Use the sn@vfiefttc.ie and broadband as the password or else it will prob fail to connect. I had awful trouble when I originally bridged my modem but it's fine now.

Yep, I am going to try that tomorrow.
I used the original vodafone@vodafone.ie username on my FTTC connection and had issues with the TP Link VR900. I will see if this fixes them, but in the meantime I am back on the original HG658c Vodafone modem.

It would appear that Vodafone aren't supporting IPoE as the connection never establishes with IPoE selected. The new WAN profiles pushed out in their latest firmware have IPoE set only for the WAN profiles with IPTV and VoIP services enabled but these don't connect either. Otherwise it's PPP for the profiles with Internet services, including the Ethernet WAN profile which I assume is for FTTH

    They don't support IPv6 either

It's strange as I'm almost certain eircom on the other hand are supporting IPoE for VDSL customers and IPv6 for both VDSL and ADSL customers

You cant do PPPoE AND use eirs multicast platform. They're systematically incompatible. So vodafone may not be using it yet and instead doing PPPoE over the L2TP tunnel back to their RAS, but they'll have to change that soon.

kleefarr just go ahead and use PPPoE, theres no difference for you.

I'll have to, no choice. The VR900 doesn't like vodafone though. No internet with the VR900 on either the vodafone@vodafone.ie or the sn@vfiefttc.ie as I tried that earlier. Couldn't wait to see if it worked or not and it doesn't.
Has to be vodafone as according to TP Link support they have no issues being reported by anyone else using a VR900.
    :(

Can you check the advanced setup and post a screenshot?

Yep, I'll do that first thing tomorrow.
Actually I may have one already that I sent to TP Link support.

    Attached.

Strange thing is, it seemed to work when I first connected it up.
Then after flashing to the last firmware the problems started.
Even going back to the original firmware doesn't make any difference.

Ok, in the latest reply from TP-Link they once again suggest that I get the VR900 exchanged for another.
This may prove difficult though as it was purchased via Amazon and using my old account prior to email getting hacked.
Should still have the receipt though.

    Will keep you up dated.

Issue sorted. Replacement modem received this morning. No connection issues so far. Will need to find a suitable wireless channel though.
1, 2, 8 and 11 all currently being detected. Will try 5 for a bit.
