How can I renew my IP ?

Up until now I've used Eircoms Motorola 2247-62 modem for my ADSL2+ broadband connection. And If I restarted the modem or plugged it out and back in again; I would be given a new external IP address every time (Dynamic IP).

But now Ive been upgraded to eFibre and am using the eir F2000 modem. And I cant renew my IP address. If I restart or plug out the modem and plug it back in, I seem to be getting the same IP every time. I've even left it unplugged for an hour and 10 mins but I still get assigned the same IP address. Im sure I haven't got a static IP because I think you've got to pay for that and I haven't.

Anyone know how to get reassigned a new IP address with these modems?

    Thanks

it changes automatically around 2 am. and dont keep unplugging modem as it will think there is a fault and reduce speed. why do you want ip change?

    total bollox:rolleyes:

OP if your getting the same IP after disconnecting the modem I'd say theres a good chance you do have a static IP address.

You might have contact tech support or eir on their talk to forum.

You're right you use to have to pay for a static one on eircoms adsl lines but not sure about fibre.

    No.

I think I might have a security issue. Ive found some stuff in the modems logs. Ill post a fresh thread about my concerns.
