Hi All, Looking for advice and accommodation recommendations.
Heading to Lanzarote in February. Himself wants to be near surf and apparently Famara beach is the best spot for this?. We'll be renting a car it won't matter if its a 20 min drive from our accommodation to Famara. Any suggestions would be great. Cheers

Famara is the best spot, but it's a bit more than 20 mins drive from any of the main resorts. Costa Tequise is the closest of the main resorts, about 25-30km away depending on which route you took. PdC is 30-35km again depending on the route you select, but it's better than CT for a couple.

There's plenty of accommodation in Famara and a decent enough scene for bars etc. Have you considered just staying there? Stunning coastline there too!

Who have you hired your car with? There are some dodgy firms operating in the Canaries! Watch out for GoldCar in particular, they have a terrible reputation.

Thank you for that info, much appreciated.
On your advice I will try for accommodation in Famara. I wasa bit worried it would be completely dead there in February. Re : Car Hire we hadn't actually booked one as yet but will make sure they are well known reputable company now. Thanks again!

If you haven't booked your car yet, contact Freddie Drummond in Omnicars Lanzarote. They have a facebook page rather than a website (can't link here, FB is blocked in work!), so do a search. They offer really good value for money and you pay on arrival. Price is fully inclusive too so no hard sell on excess insurance etc.

Failing that, PlusCar are great too. Nice clean cars, new enough fleet.

Not sure what Famara might be like in February, I didn't factor that into my post above... Sorry!
