Damaged Honda Civic

    Hi all,

A family member had an unfortunate incident yesterday when she hit a ditch with her car. Thankfully nobody was injured but there was substantial damage done to the car.

The car is a 2007 Champagne metallic 5dr Honda Civic hatchback. The passenger side took the brunt of the accident and what is apparent that is required is passenger side front wing including the black plastic strip that surrounds it; passenger side front headlamp; front bumper including the passenger side tow hook cover and foglight blank (these are intact on the drivers side of the bumper and could be popped out and shoved into a new bumper if need be) also the black plastic air intake part of the bumper would seem to be intact. Also required is the passenger side inner wheel arch lining and black plastic sill cover that runs the length of the car is most likely needed (came off and a few clips are broke on it)

Although she has comprehensive cover she ideally wants to avoid going through her insurance if possible so the ideal scenario would be to get the same coloured parts from a breakers yard and fit them (tallish order to get most of these parts from a breaker yet alone in the same colour I know that). There is a friend of the family who would fit the parts for her at a much lower than standard cost. He should be able to do all the work bar any spray painting if required.

My question is how much should she expect to pay roughly for the parts from a breakers yard or new if necessary. Also the cost of spraying the bumper and wing if need be. If someone could provide a ballpark breakdown of the expected costs I would be most appreciative.

Also, if per chance anybody knows where there maybe such a Civic in a breakers yard with the necessary parts I would be most thankful if you could possibly pm me on details.

I have tried partfinder.ie but something tells me its not kept properly up to date and I doubt if many breakers keep a proper inventory of what parts are available on the cars they have.

Any help at all that can be provided would be most appreciated. If I missed any detail required please let me know. thanks all

100% of the damage won't visible there is strong possibility other items behind bumper and wings are damaged too along with suspension steering that at a minimum will need to be checked

I was just about to post something similar. I would have the suspension geometry checked, which would indicate if something is bent. A tyre centre with a decent wheel alignment system would give a good indication if something is out of line.

No point in having the car nice and shiny if it's not driving right.
