Anybody on here owned or driven a Saab 9-3 1.9 diesel? I'm interested in a 2005 model with about 120k on the clock but don't know much about them besides that they seem to get mixed reviews generally on all the usual car sites.

Based on the Opel Vectra platform and uses the Fiat sourced diesel engine, 120bhp and 150bhp versions. The interiors are not very well screwed together on pre 2007 models so don't wear particularly well over time or mileage.

Can you verify the mileage? That's only 12k average per year. Certainly does not warrant a diesel.

Service history is gonna be all important on any diesel car too.

No apparently the previous owner 'lost' all previous service history...

Surely he has bottle of tippex and TB done at 110k :)
It's hard to find full service history on 10 year plus cars. Watch out for clocking as it is common especially on UK imports

Had a 2005 93 Sport with Auto box. One of the best cars i ever had. Had it about 8 months and put on 14000 miles. Real world fuel economy was about 48mpg on motorway driving.

What are the 2008/9 petrol models like?

Heard a few bad things about the earlier ones. The sister had a an 04 one a good few years ago and I loved it. Shame it turned out to be a write off from the UK so she lost out big time on it.

Are you sure you need a diesel? Friend of mine was in the same predicament but does less than 8k/year so petrol was a no brainer for cost/condition comparison!

Yeah I do big enough mileage and def notice the difference in the pocket when switching between petrol and diesel cars. A decent diesel for about 2k is v hard to find though.
