KU nominated twice? :pac: And not once for his split shorts reference in the beermile video ;)

KU being nominated twice could well split the votes, but I guess it is performance of the year, not athlete of the year. I saw 2 of these 4 live, although I only caught the last lap of Timaaay's victory in Athlone. Great run that was, but I'm going to go with KU's 4:06 for 1500m. That's a smashing time.

KU's 4.06 gets my vote, it's a staggeringly good performance for someone who only took up middle distance recently.

Just to further back up my vote, only 5 women in the history of this nation have run faster than KU's 4:06.8 for 1500m; Sonia O'Sullivan (3:58.85), Geraldine Hendricken who was busted for drugs so shouldn't really count (4:02:08), Sinead Evans (Delahunty) who was a semi finalist in the Atlanta Olympics (4:04:22), Ciara Mageean, World Junior Silver medalist (4:06:49), and Monica Joyce 4:06:69). That's the standard that this performance is at. I think if a male club runner is performing at a level of a female Olympic track athlete, then that is a great measure of the level of performance IMO.

Aye - I'd always look performances at this level to see how they measure up against a women's national record over the distance, it's always a good indicator of its quality.

Some boardsie's have put in some great XC performances recently which will go under the radar. I'm sure they're not arsed. I think they'd get my nod had I been able to vote. The strength of an XC performance is harder to measure, and I don't think that most of the people casting a vote on here would be all that au fait with how certain races stack up against each other in order to gauge how good a particular performance is. I'm only getting my head around it myself.

XC is the great leveller. People are familiar with faces like Mansfield and McCambridge (just and example, at least they take on XC and embrace 'the team' and the value of a medal and not an envelope) with their marathon podiums and race series wins, through the mass participation races, but you've many many athletes, including the odd one here, who take them on in the muck and **** and beat them. You also others, who won't get anywhere near them, and will on occasion get shat out the back of a top quality race but they get everyone's respect because they are willing to put their reputation on the line and toe the line for the good of the team rather than do the circuit placing well in every small town 5k/Parkrun going.

Track is the great leveler. For that reason, I voted for Michael in the 1,500m. Undoubtedly the best time and performance by a regular contributor.

It's a great performance, and best of those in the poll.
