Anything first registered before 2008 is on the old engine sized system.

The motortax website allows you to put in the car's registration and it will tell you the motor tax rate.

A 2007 Honda Accord 2.0 litre is just over €700 to tax, same as a similar 2004 or 2006 model.

If 2008 + and I don't know the reg its difficult so?

Out of interest, do you know what the tax is on that accord if its 2008
I have to decide whether its worth going for a 2008+ as its sale price will be higher

tax post july 08 would be higher on a petrol accord.

noboy bought petrol ones after July 08 anyway because the diesel ones got massively cheaper

The petrol Accord went from 710 on the old tax system to 750 on the newer tax system. There is one 2009 petrol Accord on carzone.

OP, consider the Civic saloon petrol also, the 1.8 litre petrol engine is very frugal, has ample power and is only 570 on the new tax system. It's nearly the same size as the 2003 to 2009 Accord but is a bit more modern. You have better chance of finding one of them post 2007 than a petrol Accord.

The 7th generation was 750. Not sure about the 8th generation.

OP you seem to confusing the Civic hatchback with the Civic saloon. The saloon shares no body panels with the hatchback.

    This is the saloon:

When I want to find out the co2 emissions of a car, I search for it on auto trader.co.uk, and they usually give the details there.

the 1.8 on the CC system is €636, so not much more than the emissions rate... this lower tax thing has made most people lose any logic, you are talking peanuts in the scheme of overall ownership... Depreciation and loan interest (if applicable) should be far bigger concerns, if a few € in motor tax matter much...
