    Hey,
I'm putting a tie rail onto the side of a van from the inside and unfortunately 4 x 16mm countersunk screws which are common enough, are too long and protrude from the exterior wall piercing the vinyl signwriting I have. 3.5m heads are too small and go through the holes of the tie rail so I'm going to need 4 x 12mm and I think I should be ok.

They seem pretty hard to get and it doesn't seem like woodies, b&q etc stock them, although I could be wrong, plus, I need about 1,500 of them so I don't fancy paying silly prices for packs of 25 etc when the 16mm ones are only about €30 for 1,500.

Would anyone know anywhere around Dublin to get these?

It seems http://www.tucksfasteners.ie/ might be able to get them, but I'm only going by a catalogue they have linked to so they may not actually have them in stock.

I'd be going for the counter sunk I guess. SPAX seem to have the right size anyway: http://www.spax.com/uk/handymen/screw-finder/filter/diameter-4-mm/length-12-mm/

If anyone knows of anywhere else that might have them, any info would be great!

Yeah I'd nearly guarantee worth will have them, if you're from Dublin it's in the industrial estate beside Denis Mahoneys, finglas exit M50. They've other outlets but I'm not sure where.

Would you not just cut the have down or use a washer or something on the inside?

Thanks, all the places seem closed for the weekend so will try on Monday before ordering online .

Don't fancy cutting 1,500 screws/getting 5,000 odd washers so will try Wurth and a few others and hope they have them (and hope 12 won't go through either :D)

It's not exactly ply lining the way you'd have ply lining on a panel van, I think it's ply with a thinner outer layer that makes up the exterior luton/box body of the van. Not too sure what they call it, it's different on another luton where the body is made of a lighter "bubbly" material.

    So wurth have a 4x13 woodscrew @ €12 per thousand (not sure if it's +vat, I guess so) and http://boltsandnuts.ie/category/zinc-galvanised/screws/wood-screws-screws/ have a 4x12 woodscrew @ €6 per thousand + VAT.

I might try Wurth first given they are closer and if 13m is ok, maybe that extra mill would be worth it given the use :o
