Notice period and Xmas

    Hi all,

I gave my one months notice this week, meaning my end date would be 02/01/2016.

My current employer has asked me to stay till end of January, as they will have problem replacing me.

My new employer would like me to start 04/01/2016, may let me push date out slightly.

The sector I work in basically close over Xmas and new year, although we use annual leave for some of these days with remainder being public holidays.

My question is even though I will be of leave for some of notice period, does this count?

I would like to help my current employer out as they have been fair to me in my time here but on flip side I know my new employer has a need for me to start promptly. I may well try and meet both in middle, finish and start in middle of January.

Yep, the leave counts towards your notice period. They could pay you your leave and have you work through it instead.

Thanks Eoin. That gives me the option.
