It has emerged today the residents of Carrickmines had complained to gardi about the residents of the fatal halting site multiple times and long before the fire. They had to put up with anti social behavior, threats, intimidation and breaks ins. It's no wonder why they didn't want them moving in right next to them.
I would have put this in the old thread but I couldn't find it.

Hahhahahaha and they were the bad guys for not loving living beside these "fine upstanding individuals"

As am I. It's almost as if the poverty, mental health and anti-social behaviour at the site and the tragic fire were different facets of more-or-less the same problem. But that couldn't be the case, obviously.

There is not one person on boards, not one, who would happily accept a halting site next to their house. They say they would - they are lying. Or they live in a middle class area with no room for a halting site so they pontificate from a higher ground.

I have had experience where I live the last 2 times an illegal site was set up on a green. Same stuff - burglaries, intimidation and the rubbish left all over the place.

We have closed the last couple of thread on this topic, and this one is closed as well.

I don't believe that what is in the article adds anything new to the discussion.
