Baby Teeth Question

    Hello

    Probably a silly question but here I go.

    So I know babies get teeth after a few months and they grow to a full set and then fall out.

    And then they grow back again

    My question relates to the first set of teeth - will this set be an exact reflection of what they will be like when they grow again i.e. If the first set of teeth are crooked, does it mean second set will be crooked?

    Not sure, OP, but its a good question!

    There is a dental forum where we might find a lurking dentist who can answer it for us- I'll move your thread there. :)

    There's no definite here. The adult teeth are generally bigger than the primary teeth (except for one tooth...) but the jaws that they eventually erupt into will be bigger jaws to accommodate the bigger adult teeth.

    Baby/primary teeth should be aligned or slightly spaced normally. If a child's primary teeth are crowded I'd have a check up... Generally the baby teeth "hold the space" for the adult teeth. If the baby teeth are crowded then it is more likely that the adult teeth will become crowded unfortunately...

    I'd see your general dentist for more specific advice.
    Best things to do;
    Limit sugar as decay and tooth loss exacerbates crowding...
    Stop all habits such as thumb sucking and soothers...

    Often it is wait and see how growth occurs and if anything subsequently is required.
    In rare situations, early intervention is recommended....

    See your dentist first off...
