I regularly go from Dublin to Athlone at the weekends, can anyone recommend a good company?

Having had accounts with eflow & easytrip recently, I would favour eflow. Easytrip charge a handling fee every time your account is topped up, €1.23 for credit cards, €0.62 for debit cards. Eflow just have the monthly account fee. Eflow offer more payment options (top-up, direct debit).

The M4 offer prepay cards too, 10% discount.

Glad to help. FWIW, I found eflow really prompt & helpful (via their twitter account) when I had some had some questions about their fees, and a bit of trouble verifying an email address.

I'll second eflow. I find them helpful when I have a problem/query. Other colleagues in work use other providers and some have switched to eflow and find the customer service better.

Eflow work best for me too, monthly direct debit and I don't need to worry about having change on me or paying the m50 toll on time..

Thanks for all the responses, itll be far better than scrambling for change!

As for the etoll itself, do you have to slow down much entering the plaza and carrying on?

and be prepared to stop, the barrier may not rise as promptly as you expect.

50kph-ish. As Bogger77 said, you need to be going slowly enough to be able to stop/steer toward a booth if the barrier doesn't rise. The first time you approach the barrier too quickly, you'll know. Then it's a case of re-merging with traffic.
