Well its not actually cooling but keeping my red at the right temp. I'm looking at getting one for the kitchen. Does anyone have one and what do they think of them ?

I would only use a cooler when a white bottle is on the table and after it has been chilled in the fridge.

I have never used one for a red, but it might be a good idea if you are in a very warm place.

When i say a cooler i mean a fridge set at 17 degrees.

Sorry, I thought you meant one of those bucket-things!

Na an actual unit to keep the wine at a specific temp. They only seem to pop up under cooler for some reason.

    One of these maybe ...

Go to amazon.co.uk and search for 'wine warmer'. Scroll down and click on 'wine fridges' where you'll see devices of varying bottle capacity designed to keep red wine at 11-18C.

I don't have one but have considered it on and off. Generally expensive - are you looking for a small one for keeping a few bottles at temp (wouldn't bother myself TBH), or a larger unit for long term storage of a lot of bottles?

I can get a basic one for 100 quid. It will store 12 bottles. Its about the size of one of a small counter top fridge. You can go for fancy ones with leds, digital displays etc but i don't need anything that fancy.

We have one and love it. We also keep some beer or soft drinks in white wine bit. An odd tonic that wouldn't be used as often and similar stuff. It works great also for red wine and bottles are kept in the dark which is handy.

It's not that we are big drinkers or that we keep some overly expensive wines, it's just very convenient, wine is at right temperature and it doesn't take up the space in the fridge.
