Does anybody know generally how long these take to process? I am considering filling one out now or waiting until January and request a P21. Would I receive the tax back quick enough that it would be worth my while doing a P50 now?

It's worth your while. Last repayments are due to be issued 19/20th December, and repayments are usually prioritised at this time of year. You'll most likely be issued with a P21 anyhow, for 2015, given how late into the year it is

Received a P21 for 2015 in a matter of days. How long after should it take for the refund to hit my bank account?

3 working days if all in order.

    Hi guys,

I've been made redundant in October 2016 and I'm still unemployed. The tax advisor hired by my previous company suggested me to fill a P50 form. I have waited 8 weeks after my last day at work before sending it on the 9th of january 2017.
Yesterday I called my local Revenue office asking for an update and the lady at the phone told me that I don't need to send a P50 but to fill online the eForm 12.

Do you guys think it is correct?

    Many thanks

P50 is for during the same tax year. Its too late now to file a form P50 for 2016. Either file a form 12 or request a p21 balancing statement. Should be dealt with shortly after 23 February which is when the last employer returns for last years are due into revenue.
