The power went this evening and came back shortly after but not at full power. Some bulbs will turn on and some wont. I measured the power at about 170 volts. My question is what appliances should I not use ? Microwave will light up but not run no dinner yet ! Should I leave the TV off until full power is restored ?

Definitely don't use your microwave, they are very sensitive to low voltage.

Don't use anything with a motor, flourescent lights, cfls.

A lot of electronic equipment might actually be ok as some equipment can run on anything from 100 to 240 V, personally I'd leave everything off except incandescent lamps.

Thanks, i partly guessed most of that but a few CFLs were left on that I didn't notice and now they are not working. Hoping that's all that is blown.
