just a quick query with regard to a clothing site that for registration requires a lot of personal details - ie: marital status, spouse's name, number of kids and if they are under 18. These are mandatory fields for registration but I don't feel comfortable about giving these details.

The item I want is not available anywhere else - any way around this?

I assume you are paying cash and not seeking credit. in which case make up a spouse name or number of children.

If it is not available anywhere else are you SURE it is a real site and not one of the gazillion bogus Chinese copy cat sites? They like to sell stuff that don't exist yet / is not out...

If you feel safe to give them your money and if you feel unsafe giving them so many personal details - give them real money and fake details. :D

Looks like they need that option to do some credit rating as they offer you credit options to pay your purchases over time, if you are paying in full I would not given them any personal info.

And give you the pleasure of 40% interest.

Places like oxendales and littlewoods make MASSIVE profit on their "easy payment" heavy handed sales pitch.

You will find "you are approved for xxx credit" - yet they get away without telling you what interest you will pay unless you search the small print.

In any case there's no way something on oxendales is not available elsewhere

I know, I'm aware of that, you need to pay straight away or within the agree free finance time, same with shops that offer 0% finance for 6-12 months, if not paid in full you will pay high interest, not sure if as 40% but I know is high.

39.6% to be accurate - they hope you forget to pay on time and then interest is back dated to the day it was purchased.

    Total rip-off

    update:

I phoned them directly to order and didn't have to register as I was paying in full. The reason I wanted to order online was because I didn't want to go through the rigmarole of their *upselling*.

I found a similar item online but it was almost 3 times the price and Oxendales ain't exactly cheap.

Hope it doesn't get lost in the Christmas post !

What the hell is the deal with this!?

Why would anyone be expected to answer these questions unless they are explicitly interested in having their credit eligibilty rated!? This is the most bizarre sales funnel I've ever seen
