Leap Card - balance / ticket question

Few questions around a leap card (using outside of Dublin, for bus eireann).

First is: If I have a balance of let's say €30 and a ticket bought on the card for a journey, and I get on a bus which does it use first? My balance or my ticket?

Secondly, is it even possible to use a balance on bus eireann outside dublin? (probably should've asked that first)

    First question:
If you have a rambler ticket loaded onto the card and want to use a day off it, then use the righthand validator. If you want to use the purse, then go to the driver's ticket machine.

    Second question:
You can use LEAP on PSO services in the Greater Dublin area (in other words not Expressway), and city/suburban services in Cork, and city services in Limerick, Galway and Waterford.

Thank you. So basically put the leap card on the machine to use a preloaded ticket. Or ask the driver to take it from the balance if you'd prefer it taken from your balance instead of the preloaded ticket. From what I understand anyway.

Unless your first journey of the day is after 8 p.m. in which case the righthand validator will deduct the fare from the purse instead of a day from the rambler ticket. If you'd prefer a day deducted from the rambler ticket, use the driver's validator and ask him to deduct a day.
