    Hi Guys,

Going back and forth on a motion gaming setup for my young family. I'm going in the direction of a Wii U setup, but need advice on what exactly to get and accessories needed.

It's for a young family of 4 kids from 9 to 3. I'd prefer to push them in the direction of motion gaming instead of pro controller based games.

    1) Is 32Gb recommended? I want to avoid messing around with optical discs.
    2) Dance Central will be a must, and then perhaps a sports game. So what accessories do I need to support that? 3 extra remotes plus? Do I need 3 nunchuks as well?

    Thanks in advance,
    LK.

8GB or 32GB, if you have the game on Disc you need the Disc to play. The storage is used for updates, saves and downloadable games. You don't install the game from Disc.

the eShop prices are terrible, so it's usually better to buy on disc :D

Regarding controllers, it varies from game to game, but since Dance Central isn't a Wii U game I'm not sure it's relevant. Just Dance for Wii U uses Wiimotes only as far as I know, with the gamepad used to control playlists and film your dancing. 1 per player. I'd always hoped there would be a mega-mode where you strap 1 Wiimote to each limb and it super-accurately maps your body but alas, no.

If you get a Wii U, plug it in and connect to the internet about a week in advance, get any system updates installed. They're slow and massive. You want time for the update to fail a few times and then complete. If you do this christmas eve / morning, you're asking for trouble.

I can't think of a decent sports game. Fifa 13 is ok, and dirt cheap. There were a couple of basket ball games early on but since EA abandoned the platform and they own most of the big franchises it's been a little unsporty recently. Mario Tennis is awful by all accounts. You can buy time-slots for playing Wii Sports U on the Wii U from the eShop (Boxing, Golf, Tennis, Baseball, Bowling I think) but the full permanent passes are expensive and the games are just respins of the Wii Sports games, barring the golf which adds controller support for a very solid performance.Depending on the ages of the kids, there's the original Wii Sports and Wii Sports resort (the Wii U can play Wii games), which are very old but great fun especially if there's 4 of you playing. You need 2 Nunchucks for boxing in Sports. Resort has sword fighting, kayaking, all sorts.

You'l also need to negotiate the backward internet connection on the WiiU, I had a battle to get it to connect and it's still not completely right.

And if you buy a Basic Wii U it doesn't come with a sensor bar. You'll need that for the Wii remotes. You can buy one separately very cheap. I'd recommend buying the 32GB Wii U.

Thanks for the replies, sorry I meant to say Just Dance. So 1 Wiimote per player is needed, and no nunchuks. Correct?

If I have to buy replacement discs due to scratches, the eShop may be more handier. I'll look into that.

Ciderman, when you say 'backward internet connection', is this a physical flaw on the console, or are you eluding to the networking setup?

    Thanks,
    LK.

The network setup, I am fuzzy on the details but mine was a curse to set up, though that was during the first couple of months of the consoles life, it may have improved with firmware updates.
