Pasting in my attempt at conversing with Irish water - shambolic does not even cover it. How can you treat people so poorly? We are suppose to cough up to pay for this 'service' yet you don't even treat people as customers? Irish water and customer service are very far removed from each other - no doubt the wait for a reply will continue. Thread starts at bottom.

10 days and still awaiting a reply?????? Complete and utter joke - and you wonder why you are in this mess? Can somebody reply to me - you have a turn around time on your emails of 5 working days laughable!!! Il pay my bills as quick as you bother to treat your 'customers' with some respect and decency ie never so. I've left my number and email address and Im not going to continue to chase your company for answers. I applied for the grant in time and did all I was suppose to - I won't pay anything until this is sorted out. The ball is in you court - if you ever decide to reply.

    My number AGAIN is xxxxx

    Hi,

I registered for the grant with irish water NINE MONTHS ago - I was living at another address at that time xxxxx I moved to Xxxx in May of this year, as far as I was concerned I had registered. I tried to ring Irish water and was cut off after being on hold ten minutes as your call charges are exorbitant- It cost me 18 euro. Please advise what you propose to do as this is ridiculous - I did what I was suppose to do and now you are trying to say I cannot get the grant a MONTH after I emailed you. As far as I was concerned I was just awaiting the grant to credit my account as you had sent details over to the relevant department - to come back a month later when the deadline has now passed is incredulous. My phone number is 087xxxx - can you please call me on this number as I cannot afford to fork out more money on phone calls. I will not be paying any bills until this is sorted out.

Just thought I'd keep everyone updated On ridiculous response from Irish water rather than allowing them to hide behind pm's. I registered for the grant in my previous address last February!

    Hi Orla,

    Thanks for confirming those details.

I can see from your account that a colleague has emailed you regarding this query previously.

Due to the terms and conditions of the Water Conservation Grant, as stipulated by the Department of Social Protection, as you were not registered in your previous residence until after the deadline had passed (as you called after the deadline to back date this move in), unfortunately you do not qualify for the 2015 grant.

However, if you are still residing in this property in 2016, you will qualify for next year’s grant.

If you have any other queries regarding your bill or supply please don't hesitate to contact us.

    Kind regards,
    Mairead

Another beauty!! I moved during the year so despite registering for the grant I now don't get it because I wasn't in the same residence! Making it up as they go along!

    Hi Orla,

    Apologies for the miscommunication.

You did register for 86 Moy, and vacated the property on June 8th. You called us on July 22nd to advise us that you had moved into 25 Northumberland Place in June.

However, the Water Conservation Grant deadline stipulates that you must be registered in your current residence on June 30th.

While you had registered in your previous property, and did inform us you had moved in June on July 22nd, you were not registered in your current home on the date of the deadline and are, unfortunately, ineligible for this year's grant.

I understand how frustrating this must be, and can understand your concerns. Rest assured that you will qualify for next year's Water Conservation Grant, which is paid and administered by the Department of Social Protection.

    Kind regards,
    Mairead

    Hi nalsa,

The criteria to qualify for the 2015 Water Conservation Grant stipulates that you must be registered in your primary property on June 30th. While you did register your details, you failed to inform Irish Water that you had moved properties before the June 30th deadline and as such your details were not accurately updated before the deadline. Unfortunately because of this, you are not eligible to receive payment of the 2015 Water Conservation Grant.

Your account has been updated since and as previously advised you will be eligible to apply for next year’s grant payment. The Water Conservation Grant is paid and administrated by the Department of Social Protection, if you would like to escalate this issue any further we would recommend that you contact the department on 071 919 3302.

A member of our team will respond to your query via PM shortly.

    Thanks,
    Niall

You didn't register your current home with Irish Water before the deadline in June so your not eligible for the DSP €100 grant
    Bad luck
    At least you know now
Hopefully there will be another grant next year

Have sent a PM Niall before I saw your message, will contact department also but given they do not have my details they had nothing to go on the last time. You might reply re escalating to CER.

Thanks for your insight haveringchick, finding it all a bit much given it was ok to charge me for the five and a half months I was in my other residence but not to issue the grant because I didn't know I had to re register. I actually confirmed with a member of staff when I rang and he said I was registered and all for the grant.....

Had someone moved on the 30th June would they also be suckered? I live on ground floor of an unmetered townhouse - total cost €520, house next door not spilt up total cost €260. I was banking on that grant as I'm not made of money, equality does not seem to come in to it however.

If its a townhouse I assume there are 2 dwellings paying €260 each.

Due to capped charges which are in place until 2018, your water charges will not exceed EUR260 per annum.

If you have any further queries, please don't hesitate to let us know.

I'm wondering how long it takes Irish water to come to a house to do a job
