Basic Supplementary Welfare Allowance (long-term only - 15 months)
    Blind Pension
Carer's Allowance and Benefit (including half-rate Carer's Allowance)
    Community Employment
    Deserted Wife's Allowance and Benefit
    Disability Allowance
Disablement Pension and Widow's, Widower's or Surviving Civil Partner's Pension under the Occupational Injuries Scheme
    Domiciliary Care Allowance
    Farm Assist
    Gateway
    Guardian's Payment (Contributory) and (Non-Contributory)
    Invalidity Pension
    Job Initiative
JobBridge (people coming from jobseeker's payments must have been on their payment and/or JobBridge for 15 months)
    Jobseeker's Allowance (long-term only - 15 months (over 390 days of unemployment))
    Jobseeker's Transitional payment
    Magdalen Laundry Payments
    One-Parent Family Payment
    Partial Capacity Benefit
    Pre-Retirement Allowance

VTOS (people coming from jobseeker's payments must have been on their payment and/or VTOS for 15 months)
Widow, Widower's or Surviving Civil Partner's Pension (Contributory) and (Non-Contributory)
The Christmas Bonus is also paid to people gettting Blind Welfare Allowance, Mobility Allowance, and rehabilitative training allowances from the HSE. Survivors of Thalidomide who get payments from the Department of Health also get the bonus. It will be paid to certain participants on some Further Education and Training (FET) courses funded by SOLAS (people coming from jobseeker's payments must have been on their payment and/or training allowance for 15 months).

Note that for Domiciliary Care Allowance (DCA) which is paid monthly the bonus is 75% of the weekly payment. The DCA portion of the Bonus is calculated independently of other payments. So, for example, if you were getting DCA for one child 75% of the weekly payment is €53.37.

So I don't qualify as my disability claim is less than 15months old?

No you do because your time on both payments is more than 15 months.

    It's 75% of your payment not 80%.

Do you have to wait until your normal payment day
or can it be collected tomorrow?

You should be entitled to it based off the long term payment

    Just wondering

Am I eligible for Christmas Bonus?

I was on a two year CE scheme which finished at the end of August.

I then had to sign back to jobseekers allowance.

I got the bonus last year on the CE scheme but am I right that because I am recently back on jobseekers allowance I don't qualify for it this year.

I was at the post office today
to collect my money and there was no bonus. Post office man said it was this week but probably because I signed back on in August I don't qualify.

Is there still a chance I will get it next week

I Know people who got paid today and got the bonus,so I don't think you'll get it mate :(

J allowance, also ce is included so don't see the crossover being an issue as both are included for the bonus

    Thanks very much everyone.

I was hoping that as I was more than 15 months on qualifying payments(CE and jobseekers) I would qualify for the bonus

It looks like I am considered a new JSA applicant since August so I won't get it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 166,026 ✭✭✭✭LegacyUser

If on ce scheme is the payment for the ce scheme included in the 75 percent or just what the welfare payment would be?

I contacted Finglas intreo this morning, they confirmed that there will be 349 in the post office tomorrow morning, despite changing to D/A from J/A in march.Hope this helps anyone in a similar boat.

You should have got the bonus, considering CE scheme is a social welfare payment and you transferred straight back to JA then you should have qualified. I'd query it with your local office.

I believe you need to be 15 months on a long term payment.

Was the jsa after 3 months considered a fresh claim

Is the bonus taxable? I'm on a gateway scheme and pay a small tax amount every week so I'm not sure how it works.

I have been on welfare since September 2014. Do I just miss out on the payment? Been on a CE Scheme since this September.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,625 ✭✭✭wmpdd3

Looks like it, there were a few who didn't get it on our course today, most of them missed it by a week or so.

My friend didn't get her bonus. She finished a CE Scheme and signed on to Job Seekers, she enquired and was told she didn't qualify because she's no longer on CE and not long enough on Job Seekers.

Seems very unfair that her time on CE didn't carry over.

I didn't get mine either. I'm only on the JSA for around 13 months so around 2 months short. But before it, I was on the JSB for 9 months. Does the JSB not count towards this ?

    No it doesn't
15 months on JSA is the benchmark

I started on JSA in July 2014. Then BTEA over the college months then back to JSA in May 2015 and again back to BTEA in September just gone.

It says 15 months for JSA and/or BTEA for the bonus but I have been on both together for 16 months but never received anything.

Are they counted as separate as their description makes it sound combined to get the bonus?

This is like my friend on CE, she thought her time on that and JSA would qualify her for the bonus but unfortunately not.
