    Most shops in Ireland are making discounts on "rubish". Also note that original price is increased just so that a 5% discount looks like 40%.

    Not too hard to prove the OP is correct - have a look at any cost trends on Amazon (with camelizer) and you will see that a lot of prices get bumped in September in anticipation of the amazing 'deals' they are going to give you today. It's simple commerce.
