Settled on a 2006 116i but have read about a timing chain slipping issue with the 1.6 n47 engine. Should I walk away? Car in perfect condition so reading about the problem I'm raging as I love the car

The BMW N47 engine is a diesel engine. The 116i is a petrol engine.

Some of the petrol engines do suffer from timing chain stretching so you'd want a good mechanic or BMW indy to give the car a good look. Service history would be important especially around frequent oil and filter changes. The ABS/traction control units give trouble in them too.
