Ookla speedtest

    Speedtest always seemed reliable enough, until yesterday when it's showing my location in various parts of the US (California/Nebraska/... ) :eek:

    This is after I had the laptop looked at so might he have done something to alter the laptop 'signature' that's making it show the net that I'm in the US. Wife's laptop is still normal showing local area ISP :confused:

    I was getting 16/17 up/download and ping of 9-29 , since my 'hijack' the ping is now in the 200's and up/download of .76/17

    He installed a VPN and didnt tell you.

    Look for something like "hide my ass", "hola" or similar.

    Thanks for your help - VPN ?? New things I'm seeing on my desktop are 'Hotspot shield' , 'Your Unin-staller' , 'shutdown' (this has system 32 on it so ?) ,

    Hotspot shield is a vpn provider,(virtual private network), either disconnect from it or delete if you don't need it. They have their uses but don't think they can be discussed on here.

    Got it sorted thanks, he restored me back to my proper location. Interesting experience :rolleyes:
