What discount can you get in Ireland off an AD?

    Interested in adding another Breitling to the collection.

    Never actually bought any of my watches in Ireland so not sure if its worthwhile or not?

    Dropped into Weirs today for a breif chat with them and 10% off is their ceiling apparently. Could anyone advise if they have got better discounts in Ireland before please? In the states 20% is pretty much standard, in Dubai its goes to as much as 35%.

    Thanks for the help !

    I've never heard of 35% discount in Dubai. They'll offer 10% and you'd be lucky if you got them to 20%. Maybe the 35% was on something damaged or old stock...

    I've heard that discounts are greater for precious metal watches than SS, but when I inquiried about a discount on a gold Submariner (116618LB) in Weirs, they told me that due to tight margins, the most they could do was around 2%.

    I got a similar response in Sheerans a few years ago... They refused point blank to even acknowledge discounts even exist in the watch business.

    I've never bought a watch in an AD. But here's a few tips;
    End of quarter/end of month or even Fridays are good times because of targets, financial commitments, wages due etc.
    A wedge of cash is approx 2% better than a credit card. Maybe more if there's a bit of pressure^^^^
    Know the price of what you are interested in on-line. Don't tell them what it is!
    With your wedge of cash, make an offer of what you are willing to pay. It will at least show them that you are serious about the watch, not just in to (kick the tyres/) try it on before buying on-line.
    I reckon the only advantage of an AD is a warranty. If you buy a watch on-line, try it on and send it back all you lose is shipping.

    If the seat's wet, sit on yer hat, a cool head is better than a wet ar5e.

    I'd say depending on the model 20% should be achievable. As above 10% is a given but IMO it depends on how you handle it. I am pretty sure watches have been sold at full retail to some purchasers out there. ( all above based on Breilting tho!)
