Bear in mind that here in Ireland a 'Marriage Equality' referendum was passed yet fathers still have virtually no rights over their children

Men have to put this back in the box soon or its going to get ugly in the future.

I didn't go for a walk today. My hat didn't blow off. In fact, I wasn't wearing a hat. I don't even own a hat that could blow off. I have a woolly hat for very cold weather, but that's fairly secure.

    Bloody feminists.

So Canada are openly admitting to not allowing lone male refugees into their country:
    http://www.cbc.ca/beta/news/politics/canada-refugee-plan-women-children-families-1.3330185

This only bothers me because I've been getting more and more fed up with third wave feminism recently. Could you imagine the genders were reversed? The **** storm that would cause. Discriminating against men is perfectly fine these days apparently.

    You're in the right place.

Lots of people on AH are really bothered by third wave feminism. Me, I never even heard of it till I read here how serious a problem it is.

It's their country so they can let who they want into it. The problem with Canada is it's already full of Canadians.

Not that I entirely disagree with the sentiment of your post, but children aren't a right. They're a privilege and a responsibility.

Sometimes a pain in the hoop, but that's a separate issue again...

That's nothing, I was in Vegas a few months ago and the club inside the MGM was charging $50 for a man to enter and $10 for a woman. Absolute disgrace, i refused to pay and burnt my boxers in protest.

For all the jokey responses here, have ye actually thought this through? Given this site and the demographic, can ye actually not empathise with single men in the 20-40 years old age range being denied sanctuary because... well just because.

I know everyone is right on recently with Canada due to electing a left leaning government, but this is wrong and we shouldn't be afraid to point that out.

People are empathising with them. It’s ****ed up. Don’t know if it’s due to feminism though.

Nothing to do with feminism, bit sexist but that's about it.

Can see why they've brought this in as a lot of terrorists are male, but I think it's foolish to think that single women refugees pose zero threat. By announcing this policy they've only given the terrorists ideas, bit silly really.

I think it's more along the lines of news reports like "100 people killed in car bomb in Yemen, including 20 women and children." You know, real victims.

Yeah I dislike that. I would kinda understand "including 10 children" but I hate the "women" and excluding men thing.

You want to complain about third wave feminism and this is the example you use ? Canada like alot of places are over hyping the fear of terrorists among immigrants and are combating this with ill thought through policies....Nothing to do with feminism.

Also any laws that discriminate against men are just that discriminatory ..not the responsibility of feminism

And wile we are at it ...women are still paid less than men for the same work in the majority of jobs, they still do not occupy high level positions in government , industry , media in the same proportions as men even though they are 50% of the population (approx)
Women still do the lions share of housework & child rearign even when holding done full time jobs

Many women still suffer from domestic violence, sexual assault that goes unpunished and are more likely to be killed by a man than the converse happening
In many part so the world women are owned by father husbands, etc and are not allowed to live freely

So while no one is advocating discrimination forgive me if I do not weep for men who feel emasculated by women seeking to redress centuries of inequality.

I think it is reasonable to say that feminism and feminists generally claim to fight for gender equality but tend to be (in terms of their actions) nearly exclusively focused on helping women.*

So if feminists were to say they were more like a woman's trade union, people might be less inclined to bring them up in situations like this. But that's not what the general message is: they claim to fight for gender equality yet generally seem to do it in a very partial manner.

*Sometimes they may fight for something that may appear to help men but the motivation often seems to be to help women also e.g. paternity leave so women don't lose out in the workforce.

a lot of them are muslim and / or of arab decent. Why not continue to limit people on those basis instead of just age and gender?

I think it's frankly stupid to blame feminism for this development but a couple of things: there are people who are the victims of domestic violence and sexual assault that goes unreported. The idea that women are paid less in the West in the majority of jobs... are we? Isn't it just that women end up earning less overall due to maternity leave/reducing hours?

The rest of what you say is true (the senior positions thing makes the "White men are the most discriminated group" stuff so laughable) but it's not due to discrimination in this day and age.

Women in the West also don't do the really dangerous, life-threatening jobs and have more parental rights.

I completely forgot I posted this. I was clearly having a bad Monday to create this tenuous link between feminism and the current refugee crisis just to have a go at third wave feminism :pac:
