But is this modern life - now I know it is a TV show , but is this what kids think is real life.

I know they went on about "the youth of the day", since Socrates - but **** me. Is this what young teens and adults look up to :eek:

Is this modern female empowerment.


Now - to talk myself down off my own soapbox - sex symbolism is as old as time. So get over myself - selfie up and get with the Kardashians


On a serious note - is this **** good for kids heads ?

The Kartrashians are awful creatures. When your own mother brokers the sale of your sex tape you made in your teens, its a pretty good sign of a dysfunctional family.

Bruce Jenner seemed to be the best of a bad lot, and I thought fair play when he announced he was transitioning but as Caitlyn she seems to be competing with the others now for headlines and publicity, and I think that its a shame that after all those years and finally being true to herself, that the fake, vapid, vain lifestyle of her stepdaughters and vile ex wife seem to be something that she is aspiring to have.

I never watched the show or follow them in magazines. But it's hard to avoid them because for whatever reason some deluded people actually look up to them and follow their style. As far as I can see they are very good at selling stupidity and tackiness.

I don't know maybe I am old but I do think there are plenty of women who just ignore them. Protesting just draws more attention to them.

The youngest one Kylie is a trainwreck waiting to happen. I can't believe her parents signed off on her getting lip fillers at 17. She is ruining her looks and unlike Kendall who is trying to forge a modelling career, Kylie doesn't seem to have any sort of direction in her life. I wouldn't be surprised if she goes down the drink/drugs route.

I thought Kendall and Kylie were the same person, so I'm clearly doing better than most at limiting my exposure. Kim K is a straight up ride though.

All the people I know claim to watch it for comedy in a "so bad it's good" kind of way. I used to say the same thing about Dog the Bounty Hunter but I secretly really wanted to become a bounty hunter.

I only ever hear about it when people are complaining about the show! I have been made to sit through bits of it every now and then though, and to be fair it did seem quite tongue in cheek. Whether it was meant to come off that way is another thing!

Saw a recent advertisement in one of the local free newspapers for a cosmetic surgery clinic, and beside the waffle was a picture of Kylie Jenner with the line underneath -

"Kylie Jenner looking youthful (something like that) with temporary lip fillers"...


She's 17 ffs, I'd expect her to look youthful, I wouldn't expect her image to be used for advertising cosmetic procedures! :rolleyes:


My wife loves it, I can not stand them. I used to think Khloe was alright, but she's become as bad an actress as the rest of them.

Anyone who watches any trashy celebrity show or any nonsense crap like that makes me lose alot of respect for them. Idiot people who have no personality and interests, obsessed with losers who contribute nothing to society or the human race. I can't state how much I hate them (the Kardashians). It's embarrassing how people can hold them in any esteem.

People can say to me oh leave people like what they like no harm. No. Not at all. Why would no one question something as brain rotting as that to masses of people? Slate it and destroy it. In a world of misguided female body image and a world obsessed with stupid bulls**t like material goods or "who the f**k wore it better?" it is a disease. Losers the lot of them. And yeah, if you watch it you should be ashamed of yourself. The Kardashians are a horrible bunch of people who shouldn't even have a voice. Again though a matter of why they got so popular is more indicative of us as a people.

I flicked on Made In Chelsea and it was mind boggling how anyone could watch it. Brad and x in love blah blah, Brad fixes hair in trendy eatery, the girls fight over Brad etc and they all talk with fake voices.

I'd blame the mom tbh. She has basically pimped out her whole family and 'sold' off all their intimate family moments to the point where nothing they do holds any credibility anymore. None of them can seem to get through the day without a camera in their face or posting 40 selfies all over their various social media profiles.

You're not missing out on a whole lot Smidge, it's all very nasal, shouty, pouty, talking on loudspeaker on their phones all the time, the odd piece to camera from one of them at some stage... and that's about it really. It's not going to change the outcome of world politics, but it doesn't make any pretences that way either...

I couldn't believe it when Kim released a selfie book. Who on earth bought that? There are so many photo's posted of her on a daily basis but I guess there must be some right mugs out there to be ripped off.

It's on E!

There's a couple of different shows of them now though. I'm trying to think of them -

Keeping up with the Kardashians anyway, then DASH, about their boutique that the sisters own and run (yeah, right :pac:), and then I am Cait, where apparently, Caitlyn Jenner has decided to model herself after Angelina Jolie ('ambitious', is the word I'd be looking for there ).

There were numerous other spin-off shows from the main series, like Khloe and Lamarr, etc, and no doubt the mother, and Caitlyn, are lining up their two youngest daughters to have them get their own shows on E! too :rolleyes:

They're an incredibly astute family, far from the brain-dead numpties some here have written them off as. They're acting, almost 24/7, and they're getting well paid for it. If they didn't actually want to do it, they all have good educations behind them that they could easily turn their hand to anything else.
