That's a nice record. Seems to have been a few more reports from Dublin over the last 24 months or so. Hopefully that is a sign the birds are doing a little better these days.

I know of 2 wild pairs in the hills above tallaght. Havint seen any since September. At same time the buzzards returned so they may have flown off

My brother rang me last week to say he saw one flying low over the m50 near carrickmines.
It could have been the Cabinteely one because it was just a few days after that sighting.
He was worried that it was flying low enough to get hit by a truck, hopefully it learns of the danger and gives the M50 a bit of altitude in future.

Be great if it was a breeding pair. I'm sure there are a few abandonded buildings up that way...

Theres a few farmsteads there. The time I saw it I would wager would have been it's first fly out of the evening. I reckon if you took a position on a high spot near the end of the Racecourse road, You would get him most evenings. And yes you're right it is Carrickmines. Right at the Luas

I might have to do that 1 evening soon. Although not sure of the area and if it would be safe up there at night time.

The M50 Carrickmines Barn Owls have been around that area for many years according to local birders. They are being sighted a lot more since the M50 was built as they often swoop across the motorway.
