Box Room Partition Wall Cold transfer to Other room

Any kind of a quick fix to prevent cold passing from a un-used box room through partition wall to a bedroom.

Doesn't have to look A1, was wondering is there any kind of foil roll that could be stuck onto the wall and then painted over. Anything like that around.

I'm not interested in insulating the wall properly, but just want to reduce the cold transfer into other room.

Is there any insulation in the existing wall?

No I doubt it very much.

Then you could just use a drywall saw (cheap enough - 10 euro) and cut a rectangular hole along the top of the wall between the partitions and drop down insulation rolls between the partitions. keep the pieces you cut out and patch it up after. just check if any cable running down the wall first so you dont go cutting that too. if there is turn off electricity before you cut around it

What about noggins in the stud wall. Won't that stop one getting insulation down the whole wall. Sounds like a mental idea to me. Even it was clear all the way down the only thing I could imagine easily getting down there is styro beads.

Wait for more advice before cutting holes in your wall or buying anything OP.

I don't understand the need full stop though tbh. It's an internal wall? You'd be losing more heat into the empty box room through the gap under the door I'd imagine than through the wall.

Your probably not doing that box room any favours in terms of damp by not Heating it. The pittance you save on your heating bill might come back to bite you when it comes to resolving a damp issue.

Yeah the more I think about it you are right. I would be better off
insulating one of the external walls in the box room, that would make more sense.

Is there anything on a roll like the foil you can put behind a radiator, but that could also be painted over.

Why is the box room colder than the rest of the house? Is there much/any insulation in the external walls

Its a north facing end tce room, so can be very cold. Walls were pumped with that bead insulation about two years ago. Cant say I noticed much difference good or bad.

No major worries about the heat here tbh, just thought if there was anything handy on a roll or thin sheets that could be easily stuck to the wall, and could be painted it would help a bit more.

With todays technology was just wondering if anything new on the market like that these days. :D

When you say end terrace room, does you mean it has 2 external walls?

Would just putting up insulated plasterboard be an option for you? Instead of re-plastering, just tape and fill the joints and paint it. I've seen it in commercial applications and it looked grand to be honest.

You could do all the walls - external and the stud wall. You may run into issues with condensation but I think you can reduce the risks if you are careful/detailed.
