Astra G camshaft sensor

    Hi,i have 1998 astra g 1.4 which is giving me trouble starting , engine managment light constantly on,though it was EGR at first so gave it a clean ,same problem, so read fault , my code is 0340, camshaft sensor according to code list, anyone know were abouts it is and to replace and price for part ? thks

    I had one of these, afair it was a 1.8

    The cam sensor was in behind the top timing cover. The wiring going to mine had gone all brittle and had cracked the plastic off causing a short.

    Actually now you mention wiring, last time i had engine cover off on left hand side some wiring had been rubbing against engine block causing bare wires, don't know if this is wire for camsensor.
    i just put some tape around it , this was months ago.
