Hi I understand Animax coat their boluses with a wax material? can anyone tell me the reasons behind this? Is it to prevent disintegration of the bolus? If so, how does the wax work to prevent this?

It's most likely to help the bolus slide down the throat easier. Could also be to stop the air causing oxidation if there's copper or iron in the bolus too.

Quote from their site - re Beef Allsure cattle bolus
"The Allsure range of intra-ruminal boluses release supplementary iodine, selenium and cobalt for up to 5-6 months. Trace elements are released from the bolus by leaching, providing dietary supplementation. Spent boluses become enlarged and fragile. They are eventually shed, intact or fragmented, by being regurgitated or excreted, usually after 12 months"
