Airtech system reset after disconnection

We had a new kitchen put in and when fitting the cupboards, they had to move one of our alarm motion sensors.

I wasn't present when they did it, so I'm not sure what they did, but I guess they disconnected it, then rewired it in its new position. The sensor's LED seems to operate as normal, but the whole system will no longer arm properly.

I guess the controller has done a factory reset and needs to be reprogrammed from scratch - all the zones etc.? I don't have any original codes or anything, so do I need a specialist alarm engineer to do all this for me?

When you say the system won't set what is happening when you try set the alarm.
Also press arrow down twice and let me know what displays.

Um, I can't remember off hand, it's a few days since I tried it :o

    I'll check, and report back...

No problem. It might be just the PiR has not been wired back correctly.

That's the motion sensor in the kitchen you mean?
It seems to light up when detecting movement, so it's definitely wired up somehow.

I'll check the wall unit screen later and see what it says.

It lighting up just means it's getting power.
If the alarm or tamper is open the system might not set.

So I had a look at it again.
It's difficult for me to follow what it's trying to say - it keeps changing the display. But it seems to be reporting the kitchen as an Open Area, so won't arm itself.

So maybe there's something I can look at on the sensor in the kitchen with an aim to rectifying that rather than having to reprogram the whole system from scratch (in the absence of the original engineer's code)?

If its giving you the zone descriptions the programming is still there.
Is there just a PiR in the kitchen or is there a zone for the windows/doors?

Yeah there's the sensor which had been disconnected, then refitted. And also a sensor on the patio door in the kitchen (that was never touched).

I think the display showed a zone for Kitchen and also Kitchen2, so that might describe them both?

    Actually, just checked again.

When I initially press down arrow twice, the display cycles between the following:

    Open Zones
    02 Kitchen
    02TKitchen

If that's the PiR then it's not wired back right or the lid is not on correctly.

    Thanks, I'll take a look.

Here's a pic of the uncovered sensor in the kitchen.
I notice the yellow wire isn't connected to anything...

Move the white to terminal 15

    Really?
    Why is that?

    (excuse my ignorance...)

It looks like it is wired wrong for duel end of line.

Finally got around to trying this, and it seems to have done the trick! No more error messages about the kitchen sensor.

System seems to arm normally now and I also tested setting off the alarm via the movement sensor by keeping still for a few seconds, then making a movement.

However, I then wanted to test the sensor in the kitchen by activating the system and hastily going to the kitchen before it armed, but when the "System arming", and "Leave now" messages were being shown together with the warning beep being sounded, as soon as I moved down the hallway, the alarm went off straight away without giving me a few seconds to leave.

Sorry to bump this again, I know it's been holiday season.

Anyone know why now that I've eradicated the errors for the kitchen sensor, the system now gives me no time to leave when I arm the system? The alarm goes off as soon as I move.

And what message are you getting?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 919 ✭✭✭Gwynston

    Ah um.
I can't rightly remember anything other than what would seem logical, i.e. "Alarm triggered" or something like that...

When arming, it still shows "Leave now" and begins the warning beeps countdown, but as soon as I move, the alarm goes off.

    So, no special message.
When setting the alarm, it says, "system arming" and "leave now" as normal.

And it seems I can move a little in the hallway - I can see the sensor light there come on without triggering the alarm, but as soon as I step forward, I'm also in line of sight with the sitting room sensor through a doorway and when that lights up too the alarm goes off without giving me sufficient time to leave.

If I close the sitting room door so that that sensor can't see me, I can manage to escape. Then once I'm out of way and it's armed as normal, it seems to operate as expected. i.e. when I re-enter it starts beeping and gives me a few seconds to disarm.

If you have a PiR in another room that's picking you up then activating the alarm it means that zone is not on access & cannot be activated during entry/exit periods.
To change this setting you would need engineer access to the system.

Thanks. I think that may have been an existing problem before all this messing started with the kitchen.

Does an engineer need some kind of original engineer passwor? Cos I don't have one!

I'm just hoping if I get an engineer in he won't need to reset the whole system from scratch to do "engineer level" stuff. That's what I was hoping to avoid back at the start of this thread when I didn't know why it wasn't working properly after the messing by the kitchen fitters. So I'm happy to have got this for on my own so far (with all your help - thanks!)

To change the zone attributes engineer access is required. If you get an engineer out they may know the engineer code based on the Installation company. For us it's not a big job to default and reprogramme a Cs 350.

Unfortunately we are no longer allowed help you here with engineer codes.
