I want to marry my Non-EEA national partner

Hi folks, I really could do with some advise.

My partner is from Lesotho and we have been dating for almost 2 years. She is on a student visa. She is 32 and doing a Business Degree. Her student visa expires in February 2016. Next year is the last year of her course so as far as I know she can get an extension to May 2016 in order to finish her course, but I'm not entirely sure as she will have been in the country 7 years in February 2016.

Anyway I plan to ask her to marry me in 2 weeks time and (if she says yes!!) give our 3 month notice of intention to marry to out local registrar. I'd like to have the wedding next May. Her visa will be valid when we get engaged and give the notice to the registrar but if her visa isn't extended in February (to allow her finds her course) that would mean that she would be illegal. We can't apply for a de facto relationship as we haven't lived together for 2 years. Can we ask the GNIB to extend her visa to allow us to marry in May?

I've read lots of articles here and have read through the GNIB website but I'm very confused about it all. I know my girlfriend is extremely worried (she doesn't know about my pending proposal) and it's causing me a lot of worry too.

Any help or guidance would be so much appreciated.
