    Hi,

I am getting paid 300 euro per week in a job after tax... I am not on welfare payments... I am currently paying 175 euro per week on rent. Am I entitled to rent allowance? If so, How do I go about getting it? Thanks...

You will not qualify for Rent Supplement if you are in full-time employment (30 hours or more a week). (In the case of couples, if one of a couple is in full time employment, both are excluded from claiming Rent Supplement). Claims from self-employed people are assessed on the individual circumstances of the case and you may be asked to show that you are working less than 30 hours a week. If you are working over 30 hours a week in emploment or self-employment or if you are getting the Back to Work Enterprise Allowance you must be deemed eligible for the Rental Accommodation Scheme (RAS) by your local authority to continue to get Rent Supplement.
However, you will be reassessed for Rent Supplement and some of your additional income including some of your income from employment will be taken into account. As a result of the reassessment you may or may not continue to qualify for Rent Supplement. If you do qualify for Rent Supplement you may get a different rate of Supplement.

You won't get rent supplement anyway unless you've been on it in the last 12 months or could afford the rent when you moved in.
If you are living on your own then you can't afford that place
You have to look up the rent limits

    https://www.welfare.ie/en/Pages/Maximum-Rent-Limits-by-County.aspx

    For your county and circumstances
When you find a place that fits your scenario you can go to your local authority and apply for a HAP payment

    Thanks for replies :)

Yes I am working under 30 hours per week... I am working 27.5 hours and earning 300 after tax..

I am also living on my own and was on rent allowance before I started the job this year..

My rent allowance was stopped a few weeks after starting job and so was my welfare payment. I did however continue to collect my welfare payment while I was working... I had to keep collecting as I wasnt paid for a month after starting job... Maybe I should have told the welfare but I couldnt risk it as I had no payments for the month... They are now asking me to pay back what I owe them... I am now afraid to go to the welfare to ask for anything as they will ask for money I owe them.....

Should I be fearful to approach them?

    Thanks

Just apologise and say you can pay it back at €15 per week
