    Hi,

I am hoping someone might be able to advise on the best way to get Belgian tv channels in Ireland (or French tv if there is no way to get the main Belgian channels)?

Open to all options that might be available.

The house is in Kinsale, Co Cork.

    Thanks a mill

For French TV get a Fransat box. Belguim is difficult, it is scrambled and you need a Belguim or Dutch bank account to subscribe.

Some of the content from the Flanders Public Broadcaster VRT is available on the BVN channel on 13 & 19 East. Otherwise Belgian content that is FTA is very thin on the ground, only other items would be anything on TV5 Monde from RTBF.

TV from France is a bit more accessible - the France Televisions channels of France 2, France 3 Sat, France 5 & France O are FTA on 5 West along with Tele Monte Carlo. TF1, M6 and a few of their offshoots (W9, 6ter etc.) are available on 9 East (these channels are feeds intended for cable operators in Switzerland, but are free-to-air). Some other channels are available on 19 East including D17, BFM, iTele & Arte.

A multi-LNB set up covering from 5 West to 19 East is doable with the main LNB aimed at 9 East, but you're talking of needing at least an 80cm dish to give adequate rain-fade results, perhaps a bigger size still.

Alternatively buy a tnt sat box around €150 in france with the card which is valid for 4 years and hook up to astra 19.2

For the multi set up mentioned above I would recommend a 90cm

Thanks for the replies. The person I'm posting for has a bank account in Belgium. What service would they need to subscribe to? I presume that would be something they access online then, rather than satellite?

well that makes it easy two tv options then

TV Vlaanderen on astra 19.2 flemish
    or
Telesat on hotbird 13 and astra 19.2 Walloons

Both can be received here in Ireland, your pal if fluent in French or dutch needs to look up these websites to get subscription details, prob need an address in Belgium to get decoder and card sent to.

Cool, thanks. Do those packages include all the French-speaking national stations in Belgium too? So:

    - Subscribe to TV laanderen or Telesat
    - Receive the decoder and card
    - Contact a satellite dish installer (tell them what they want)
    - Have the statellte dish installed / setup with the decoder / card by the installer
    - Watch Belgian tv!

    yes tv channel list attached

    yes to all.

can I suggest that your friend when getting the dish installed gets astra 28 set up as well this will give all the uk channels and if going this route a 80cm dish will suffice down in kinsale.

Thanks so much, I really appreciate your advice. I don't think the channel list was attached - or maybe I'm missing the link?
