Fire valve

    Firebird enviromax

Been having trouble with this remote acting fire-valve for last few days. It was nuisance tripping. I moved the phial but it still tripped. It was a 66 degree valve. I checked the temperature at the phial bracket. It was 24C when running, rising to 44C when stopped. Should not have been tripping, I thought. I replaced the valve and oddly it worked for a few days, but then tripped.

Fire-valve was a retro fit and I never liked the position of the valve itself. I decided to move it back from beneath the boiler. Everything working fine now.

My guess is that the radiated heat from the bottom of the boiler to the valve (not the phial) was enough to trip it, even though the phial was still well below tripping temp.

Just thought I'd share, in case something similar crops up for any of you.
