    Anyone any idea what type of scooter can I drive on an M licence? Think a1 is probably what I need.

    AM gives is <50cc and <45km/h which is pretty restrictive obviously. Really only suitable for urban environments.

    Unfortunately, if you want to go for something more substantial, you're almost better off going for A or A2 (using a school bike for testing if necessary) as it's nearly the same rigmarole as going for A1.

    45km/h AND <50cc. So actually not all scooters even.

    Get the most unrestricted license you're eligible to get, anything else is a waste of money.
