End of Life

    Hi,

Does anyone know how a car gets registered as end of life by a garage? My sister sent the wrong cert to the garage (my car cert instead of hers) and we got a letter to say it (as in my car which is definitely not dead!) has been been marked as end of life and to contact wexford if it has been done in error.

Has anyone been through this? I'm assuming they can't refuse to re-register my car? Like there's not a bloody thing wrong with it. It was her car that ran out of oil and killed the engine. And of course I only found out this evening so I can't do anything until monday!

You should probably contact Wexford and tell them it has been done in error like it says in the letter?

Um obviously? As I said though I can't do this until Monday so I'm asking if anyone has been through this before?

Can't help you there. Hopefully it's not too painful to get it sorted out.

Cool thanks. Just that I don't even know if I can drive the thing and I came home (3 hr drive west) before I sat down tonight to open the post. And I have to get back to Dublin for work on Monday. Preferably with the car. God damn it :(
I guess I'll ring insurance in the morning if I can get them and see

I wouldn't go near insurance at this stage.

I've a baby with me so I'm not driving it without knowing I'm covered by insurance just in case. If its not covered it will have to stay where it is for the moment and i'll organise something else to get back.

Just to update the thread for anyone reading it later

    1. The garage rescinded it and forwarded the email confirming their mistake so that I can carry it with me. I actually don't have to do anything at all thank god
    2. Insurance (i have comprehensive with AXA) will cover the car with a mistake like this (even though I didn't know when I rang Axa morning that the garage were already sorting). This was confirmed with a supervisor
