Is there a work around for existing customers? new sign ups online get a free 32" LG tv until Dec 3......ie cancel then re signup online? bit cheeky perhaps but seen as they're putting prices up when they see fit why not get something a little extra back

Defrauding Sky surely can't be breaking the law!

Fraud is illegal whoever it is against. Why should sky be any different?

Doesn't give specific details on the model

Why so? you're signing up to a new contract for those out.....I'm long out at over 10 years.......you're not 'not paying' for a service provided

How is it fraud to sign up to a new contract if you are currently not in one?

It would seem that this is what was given in the UK for a similar promotion

    A piece of junk

You are cancelling and then signing up in a different name, but at the same address, to get something you are not entitled to as an existing customer.

Sky are well able to look after themselves when it comes to mooney! They've certainly got enough off me over the years.

If Sky were that worried they'd have measures in place.

Far from fraud. Once you stick to your 12 month contract and fulfil all obligations, why should Sky care or how could they prove that someone else in your house signing up constitutes fraud.

I imagine you're on a wind-up given your post is so ridiculous.

If I'm getting my TV from sky and am out of contract, I can cancel.
There is no condition and more importantly no law that you can't have 2 sky accounts in the same house.

Ref the model number, in the UK it's the Samsung HG32ED450SW which is very basic. Irish one says its lg.

I'll have a wild guess you do not work in any area of the legal field (at least i hope not)

Once you have completed your minimum 12 months with sky you may cancel with the notice period in your contract (prob 30 days)

After that you are no longer a customer and any new customer offer is fully available to you and sky may not differentiate you from any other new customer unless it is written in your contract.

Basically, the basic sky package of 29.50 (from dec) is almost entirely profit once the cost of installation is deducted as there are very few channels on that package that actually cost sky money.

If there's any case of fraud is sky charging 29.50 for sh1te.

Well that throws a spanner in the works of this idea....the deal ends 3rd Dec :D

Actually, to Sky you arent classed as a new customer until 12 months after you have left

Actually, to Sky you arent classed as a new customer until 12 months after you have left

hence the line "unless its written into your contract"

As I left sky a long long time ago and have saorview, freesat & netflix providing vastly better choice of programming for just 7.99 a month (netflix).

But on Sky, you could cancel it and your partner could sign up as a new customer. Though you are probably better off cancelling & adding netflix as I have done.

This is true for everyone who doesn't want/need HBO or other US dramas, Sports, or recent release movies.

I'd guess that this won't be a well reviewed TV, probably as cheap and basic as they can get away with.

Having reviewed this thread, I think closing it and leaving the discussion at that is probably the best option
