Hey just wondering if anyone has any experience with how long it usually takes for Eir to activate their cabinets? Initially when I got the news about the upgrade it said "within 6 weeks" and I checked again for the first time in a week or two and it had changed to "within 6 months". So basically I'm wondering about the average wait before I finally get out of the stone age of 2mb broadband ha.

Anyone with any insight would be great!!

Hi. I'm on the castlemartyr area of cork and the rollout date kept changing but eventually it arrived but beware of the promised speeds. My line is .7km from the exchange and on the eircom site I was told I could receive 80mb. What I'm getting is 28 mb. They have prequalled my line to 30mb so by the time the service gets to me its down to 28mb. It's a long story but my line was on a 50mb connection but they changed it to 30mb.
It's still very good and consistent at 28mb and is almost 4 times faster that what I had but its very poor and could not be considered to be good from a projected/advertised speed of( get out of jail line) 'up to 100'. I was given a projected speed of 80mb from eircom own line test therefore I think a 30mb service is not good enough.
I haven't bothered fighting my corner with eircom as I have being doing that for months previously and haven't the energy due to illness atm ad as stated 28mb I can live with for now.
Don't expect 80. 60 or 50mb. You will probably get 30/40 which will be great compared to what your probably on now
    Hope your efibred soon
