Job loss - No written letter

    By the book, do you need to get an actual letter or email about being let go due to redundancies, or does verbal count? I presume it has to be written in some form no matter what size of business.

    Well you'll need a letter for DSP to claim jobseekers anyway. And it'll need to say you were made redundant as you could be excluded for 9 weeks for that if you leave a job voluntarily.

    What about notice given? Say you are told your last day will be x no of weeks. Does this need to be in writing. Or could you wrangle another week out of it!

    Unless it's written, you have no proof that you didn't just quit, and thus will probably be waiting 9 weeks to get social.
