This Christmas, I will be responsible for getting the wine to go with a traditional turkey & ham Christmas dinner.

Any suggestions as to the type of wine that would go well would be welcome.

We normally start off with a Chateauneuf Du Pape and then a Côtes du Rhône

Well if we're going in that direction anyway, I always have a Chimay Blue with mine. Pairs great with all of it :)

I the same vein as above - just go with what you generally like when it comes to wine.

I usually go for a wine like I would usually drink - full-bodied Italian reds being my vin du jour, but splash out a bit & go for a higher-end bottle.

Will prefix this by saying that I'm more of a red fan... If it was just Turkey I think Pinot Noir or Cotes du Rhone; for Turkey & Ham together Rioja.

I am not a fan of having 2 different reds in one meal, though I know people who do this.

The pinot noir idea is appealing but risky. When a pinot does not work it really does not work!

I am leaning towards a Bordeaux or Languedoc, with white for the remainder of the meal.

You want to avoid risk so offer one of the hardest places to find a decent bottle. Buying Bordeaux when you don't know what you're buying is like playing the lotto.

Stick to what you like and drink normally.

I have quite a good idea about what Bordeaux I like, but certainly Languedoc can be very good quality at a better price.
