So I was driving behind a truck today and a rock flew out from it somewhere, bounced on the road and smashed into my fog light.

Do you think I have any resource with the driver?

I didn't stop him at the time as I didn't realise the damage and needed to be somewhere.

    No.
You can't prove what hit you or where it came from.

Only if it fell off the back of the truck otherwise it's just one of those normal hazards.

If you could get CCTV of his unsecured load he could perhaps be charged with dangerous driving but little hope of proof he caused your damage.

Same happened me few weeks back big bolt either came off truck in front or was kicked up by it and bounced off the bonnet denting it and took paint with it.
No way to prove it was off there truck really so just had to leave it. Talk about bad luck!

Yeah but I guess I'm lucky it didn't cause more damage. 50quid for the part off audi.

The most sickening thing is that II got a dash cam a few days ago and it just missed recording the impact I thought I had pressed the button in time to save the clip but missed by about 30 seconds :(

If you have a big enough memory card it should loop to record over the oldest date first.
In saying that i have mine set to record in 5 minute segments but it sometimes misses a few seconds between loops which is usually when something has happened plus some videos are short while others are really long.

I've a 32gb card in mine and i'm going to format it and start fresh again as it's full now so probably whey it skips a bit.
