Aer Club looks like its finally arrived!!

We're delighted to be bringing you an advance introduction to AerClub, the new loyalty programme of Aer Lingus. Our brand new programme is all about rewarding and recognising loyalty, in the air, on the ground, and online. Over the next few weeks, we'll be continuing our programme of enhancements, and we'll continue to update you with more news. In the meantime, remember to use your membership number when booking flights. Your flight activity will be recorded, and any Avios points and Tier Credits will be credited to your account.
This the email they just sent out? Still vague on dates...

yeah, but with that video as well, it seems like they are finally ready to roll it out..

    I'd imagine it'll be a lengthy migration...

    Aren't we all,

I only made it back in by the skin of my teeth recently based on the 2,400 points required (I didn't want to spend points buying back in), whereas going by spend as per Avios, I'd have probably made it in a long time ago as a lot of my flights were booked last minute, so quite expensive..

anyone got any idea of how Tiers will map across.

Not hopeful that any gold circle members will map to either platinum or concierge level given the miserly conversion ratio of 2:1 for points.

It will be next month before official launch AFAIK.

Anyone will they allow those who couldn't join Gold Circle since November 2015 and because of continued delays if they will allow bookings since to be redeemed.

I got a chance to listen to some of the IAG presentation from last Friday and their (Avios, not Aer Lingus) date was firmly 'Q42016' so ye got no more than 6 weeks to wait.

The EI CEO section of the presentation didnt refer to AerClub as dar as I can remember. (Was too busy trying to listen to any fleet info)

I have a lot of points built up with BA and looking to transfer to AerClub and it is infuriating trying to even log into Avios:mad:

At the gold circle desk the other day they said new cards in the post on the 15/11

So I've been migrated over to Green in the Aer Club!

Does this mean I can't use fast track and the lounge anymore?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,221 ✭✭✭goingnowhere

    Everyone is green :D

My status on Gold Circle is 'applicant' as I only have 700 points. I booked the flights to Chicago last week for the match via ba.com, the actual flights were BA/AA/AA/AA. Will I be able to add that trip to the new club after I'm moved over - if they move me over?

No as I understand it but if you sign up for BA exec club, claim them there, you can then switch them over

I've been transferred over to AerClub as Platinum. I had been expecting Silver as I was Prestige, but was very close to Elite. So it looks like it's worked out well.

I was in the GC lounge in DUB this morning and the ladies were saying that the cards are/will be in the post.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 69,766 ✭✭✭✭L1011

Green - 5 UK R/Ts and 1 EU R/T in the past 12 months so that makes sense. No sign of my transferred Avios balance though.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 33,518 ✭✭✭✭dudara

So how can we transfer Avios betwen BA and AL? I have a fair whack sitting in my BA account and it might be useful to bring them together sometime

I tried to do it the other day but my BA login does not work with Avios and there was no area on Avios website to create an account

I got the e-mail with my new member number and a new balance which includes introductory bonus points but I can't login to Aeroclub - all I can see is generic promo stuff.

On the e-mail there is a banner with my member number and beside it is what looks like a hotspot with 'My Avios' and below it 'See profile' but it's not clickable???

Does the email give a breakdown of your qualifying trips or how many tier points you were awarded, or is it just a simple statement that you've been matched to platinum?

I've got about 3000 gold circle points for the last 12 months which would put me in Aer Club silver but I would definitely have reach platinum if they consider frequency of flights (i.e. BA Silver is achieved after 50 flights in 12 months), which I've hit easy.

You will be able to merge all your Avios into one account once Aer club is up & running

I got my email last week saying I'm green in AerClub (current gold level member). Had zero down as my tier points, and the link wasn't clickable either. Bit messy.

It looks like the goal posts for Silver in AerClub are higher than for Gold in Gold Circle, as I was on track to meet the 2,400 requirement for renewal.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,221 ✭✭✭goingnowhere

The real emails are rolling out right now

And folks are getting sensible tiers based on travel patterns

No idea if the 50 flight route to status is valid

I'm in the green as well, (from August to August I got 2,900 points, and got back in, however November to November I only got 1,900 points, despite most of my flight being very expensive last minute bookings), so I take it I can no longer use the lounge and fast track? if so, I'll be taking my business elsewhere if the price is better while also adding fast track as an add on.

It looks like they are looking to shed a load of people out of the club back to 'entrant' level.

I'm green tier as well despite having 5,100 GC points. I've about 60,000 Avios points from travelling with BA

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 57 ✭✭Downsey77

That's surprising, I would of thought as an Existing Gold Member, renewed in the Summer that you would be matched to Silver. I think I'd be giving them a call to argue my case, as it looks like you'll lose fast track & lounge.

This may be a dumb question but is Fast Track a benefit with Gold Circle?

Yes, in Dublin, Heathrow and Amsterdam from the ones I've used it in before. There might be a few others.

You can combine your aerclub with an existing avios account very easily on the avios website.

Thanks, been Gold Circle for a while and didn't know that the fast track security is included!

It's the only benefit worth having really, the lounge in Dublin is not very good, priority boarding is ok sometimes, but not essential. At certain times, Fast Track is a godsend.

I got shunted back to green too, right after a business transatlantic round trip that'd have pushed me well into Gold in the old scheme. Meanwhile I've just earned status with Emirates by doing four connecting round trips through DXB in the last year.

I develop Superior Solitaire when I'm not procrastinating on boards.ie.

Just the latter - I think more detail will be available once you can log into your AerClub account later this month.

I got in on the Platinum level.

I used to always cash in my GC points for Arnotts voucher at the end of the year. I presume that option is gone?

Spending points looks very much based around UK-based companies / activities. Are we gonna be missing out here?

The Avios Ireland Eco-system will take time to build, whereas in the UK it's fully mature.

I'm silver. Was prestige on gold circle having dropped down from elite in August.

Seems like a demotion but I haven't done a lot of flying this year.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 57 ✭✭Downsey77

Got matched to Silver, bye bye UK lounges (bar LHR of course).

Got told by GC call centre that 600 Tier Points is Platinum, so its basically BAEC with a different name.

Really hope they have the 25/50 flights option to get to Silver/Platinum as BA do.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 57 ✭✭Downsey77

They told me 1051 for Concierge but I reckon she meant 1501, so again same as BAEC:

    0 - 300 Green (Blue)
    301 - 600 Silver (Bronze)
    601-1500 Platinum (Silver)
    1501+ Concierge (Gold)

With BAEC 25 flights in 12 months automatically gets you Bronze, 50 flight in 12months will get you Silver.

So i;ve gone to green now as well, Travel a couple of times month around Europe. So fast track and Lounge are gone for me now? Is this in effect immediately or is the Gold Circle card I have still valid to February as it's dated?

I don't think that's been clarified. AerClub comes into effect on 29th November, so it's likely GC benefits will end then too.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 666 ✭✭✭maximum12

Lounge will be very quiet if people on the GC gold tier are going to green on Aer. Vast majority of people in the lounge seem to be on gold.

Anyone know if the Aer tiers run for 12 months form now or to your existing GC renewal date ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,612 ✭✭✭Dardania

With the longue access offered for silver up,does that include the US CBP one? Or is that restricted to business class?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,762 ✭✭✭✭AndyBoBandy

I've spoken to Gold Circle today,

they are currently migrating people to various Aer Club tiers based on spend/flights from January this year up to now.

Then, on November 29th, they'll look at the bigger picture and look to migrate more people over on a case by case basis: spend/flights over a 12 month period, as well as length of membership of Gold Circle etc...

so, for those of us migrated to green, it's not all doom & gloom just yet, if you've still spent a good bit in the last 12 months or so, and have been in the gold circle for a few years, they'll most likely move you to silver.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,738 ✭✭✭djkeogh

Fingers crossed on that. I'd be very disappointed to lose these small perks and having gone out of my way to book Aer Lingus when better times and/or prices were available elsewhere.
