Aer Lingus aren’t in oneworld and its more than unlikely you’ll have lounge access on a non Aer Lingus ticketed partner airline

I can tell you for definite in jfk, silver gives access on EI metal only and no guest

You’ll need to move up a notch to platinum for the guest

BA silver or gold on the other hand will give you access to the EI jfk lounge plus a guest interestingly

Does anyone here know if you can access the Dublin T1 lounge with an Aerlingus T 2 boarding pass, that’s with paid access

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,657 ✭✭✭Blackjack

you can walk between the terminals once you are through security. No issue there.

Cheers. What's weird is in the list of lounges on the Aer Lingus website, it explicitly calls out some of them as requiring you to be on an Aer Lingus flight; but others don't.

Ah I know that ,I was just wondering since the food offering at the T1 lounge is much better (hot breakfasts) than the T2 Liffey lounge, was there any bar on entry restricting you to T1 boarding passes? They’re hardly a 5 minute walk apart

Probably just means code share flights don’t allow you lounge access

    The rules are simple

    Must be Silver or better

Must by flying on a Aer Lingus operated flight

The partner thing comes in if you are on a transatlantic itinerary and are flying on Aer Lingus, American or BA, in that case at Platinum or above (or BA Silver, or American Platinum or better) you get lounge access

E.g. if flying DUB-LHR-SFO, on BA you would have access to the EI lounge in Dublin (or the DAA lounge if its before 9am) and then access at the BA Galleries lounge in LHR T5

In that case so, it's probably better to use my BA Exec Club number instead of Aer Lingus if Lounge access was one of the key benefits for me and BA offers more flexibility?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,362 ✭✭✭goingnowhere

BA lounge access on EI will only work if traveling DUB-LHR or part of a transatlantic itinerary on EI/BA/AA

It won't work for DUB-BHX for example on its own

Was in the LHR lounge last week. Had not been i there in a few years. Looks great now and way better food than previous.

When I came this afternoon to the LHR lounge at 1600 it was full to the brink with people queuing to get entry.

Went into the newish No 1 lounge at gate A18 with Dragonpass instead and it was an oasis with great snacks, drinks and quite.

LHR lounge is much better now though, shows the Dublin one up a bit for space. The Dublin one can be insanely busy in the early morning.

I want to transfer some Avios from Aer Lingus to Iberia. I registered for Iberia+ but they have a 3 month lockout before I can transfer. Anyone know a way around this?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,200 ✭✭✭The Ayatolla

Pretty sure you have to make some kind of Avios transaction too with Iberia to allow transfers in to it.

I have a couple of free flights to use up by August. Couple of questions:

    • They expire in August but I'm assuming that I need to book them before then, but could say book a flight for September?
    • When I search for a particular destination for some reason it's giving me a few options before the timetable kicks off for that location. Presume that's just a glitch, and I just have to go by the actual timetable (since it looks like I need to input the flight number)? - Read the fine print after posting so nevermind: Only dates that are Green on the calendar below can be selected, however this does not mean that your preferred flight is in fact operating or available on that day.

So long as they are booked before expiry date you can fly any time, flights are typically available 11 months ahead so you can fly until July next year, just watch you don't run out of time in the booking process - in my experience it takes about a week to get confirmation.

Why do you need to transfer them to Iberia? If you’re looking to book flights on Iberia the same availability is on BA. I had read that the taxes/charges were considerably lower on Iberia- but I just booked MAD-SCL in business and priced it on both BA and Iberia. Taxes were identical on both - €110.

The taxes/surcharges are the same as they are the Spanish rate and the Iberia carrier charges but availability if searching on Iberia plus’s portal can be better for Iberia flights

I ended up booking a cash fare on BA in the end. When I looked at the BA Avios site it was showing Avios Reward availability for a pittance but when I clicked through I couldn't book them on Iberia. Avios continues to be easy to accumulate but frustrating to spend.

Put in the Aercard flight requests today - flights are at the cost that has previously worked out OK for me, one r/t is 220 and the other 270. Last redemption was similar and I paid about 100 between the two of them in charges.

I did notice that the email says "New Aer Credit Card flight requests can only be accepted where no existing request is currently being processed by the team." and I did request two different (one person return) trips in a row - I need to go over before a weekend, my partner after the weekend and come back on the same flight

Does this mean that they won't even look at the second trip, or does this mean they don't let you go request quotes, effectively, for multiple and pick the ones you want?

Quick question eventually got the card and travel insurance, When spending on the card how long does it take to receive the points? With Revolut when i convert them to the Aerclub it happens straight away.

Got an email from Loganair saying they're moving from their Clan Points system to Avios. The email mentions being able to link to a British Airways account and transfer Avios. Anyone any idea if it'll also be the case with AerClub?

I've earned some Clan Points with Loganair but not enough to make any use of them. Would be nice to be able to lump them into my AerClub balance.

Just move them to BA Avios and then from BA to Aer Lingus, I have done this with Qatar in the past.

So you need to spend €5k in order to avail of the free flights within a 12 month period, Is there a time frame in which you have to book the flights? Me and the missis normally go to Lanzorote off peak can't do summer months heat kills me getting to old.

Would anyone know if I have access to the Aer Lingus lounge in JFK if flying from there to Boston on JetBlue and then to an aer Lingus flight to Dublin from there. All booked on aer Lingus and business on the aer Lingus leg. Platinum aer club member. Thanks.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,362 ✭✭✭goingnowhere

Nope, access at T7 JFK is solely for travel on Aer Lingus direct to DUB/SNN/MAN

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,712 ✭✭✭thebiglad

Once you have spent €5k to activate them then you you have to book flights by the time your annual credit card membership ends for that year - the flights though will be available to book up to 11 months in advance so long as Aer Lingus has put out the timetables.

Presume I’ll have access to a partner lounge in Boston though?

Normally if you present your same day international business class boarding pass, you’d get access on a connecting partners flight

That’s not to say EI do this

Ridiculously their website states EI operated flights only, which would mean no

My advice is to rock up and see, even though it’s unlikely

Please post back what happens 🤞
