    Hi,

Can someone please explain to me AIB Shares in a nutshell.

I know that they are 7 cents at present and I read on the newspapers that they will float on the market again.

Does that mean that shares will have split options or what ?

I am wondering if I should buy AIB Shares for the future now or wait till the flotation ?

    Thanks

Do not buy aib shares. We are about to give it another bailout that we probably won't get back when it converts preference shares into common shares. It's real value is probably about 1 cent.

The government are going to sell back AIB shares at some point soon, that will be the time to buy.

it is valued at 35 billion based on Market cap currently, that by the way is insanse! more profitable banks like Aldermore have a market cap of 1k, run for the hills, do not buy, there is a world out there why the fook would the best shares to by happen to be the bank on your doorstep, come on.

It makes no sense to consider AIB shares at present. Their current market cap makes them the 5 largest bank in Europe or something by that measure - bigger than the likes of UBS, Barclays or Deutsche Bank.

In terms of balance sheet size they're about the 60th biggest in Europe.

Do not buy AIB shares. The shares are trading for multiples of their true value at the moment. Current shareholders will be wiped out when these shares are traded properly/bought back by AIB/cancelled.

Wow, good article, AIB shares have plunged since as a result.

People are getting out now rather than later.

I plan on buying 1K worth when there down to 1c.
My dad wanted to invest 5k on them a year ago, but I advised him not to.
I think they would be long term investment.

My uncle lost 80K in aib shares. Be bought at the high point. Sure, the ****er deserved it.

I was able to get a borrow(short) on AIB about 12 weeks ago @ .089 but the borrow charge was 17% a year. Wasn't viable for my client at the time as the price would need to drop 17% in 12 month just to cover the charge(taken from the position daily).

Look where it is now and could go lower. Would have been nice! But hindsight is a great thing.

BKIR is a decent buy around the 30-32 mark.
