Not really sure where to begin with my search so after some advice.

Moving house and dont want to get in a tv subscription so looking at freeview options.

I'm a bit clueless over this but is there any box I can buy that will get me the basic channels plus UK channels?

Freeview is the UK's terrestrial TV service like Saorview, using an aerial, but only available if you're within range of UK transmitter in NI or Wales.

    Where are you moving to?

If you're not within range of a UK transmitter Freesat via a satellite dish is your best option for UK TV, the Saorview channels are not available via Freesat.

Zero chance of Freeview, unless the neighbouring houses are all sprouting tall aerials facing seawards, and you can get one as tall.

You could get a dish. Even stick it in the back garden once it's got a clear view south. Of course unlikely in that part of the world. But look at the neighbours to see which way their dishes are pointing.
