    Reading this thread earlier, anyone any updated thoughts on a 1.2 petrol jetta.

    This is catching my eye.

    Considering a nearly new jetta, fluence or octavia or perhaps a slightly older Passat.

    For the missus for 2 days a week commuting, running around aside from that but doubling as family car at weekends (as I've a 320D coupe - i.e not suitable)

    Depends I suppose what you really want from a car. The Jetta is sort of in no man's land where it's based on a Golf model that was replaced 3 years ago. Styling is a bit dated and bland too.

    Some good standard kit on the Fluence these days but you will not find a petrol one here. Octavia would be more modern if she's looking specifically for a petrol option and the boot would be more practical for family stuff.

    Yeah the jetta is very bland.

    Happy to go with 1.6 diesel in octavia or fluence, doesn't have to be petrol - i more just spotted that thread and that particular car hence the question.
